Engineering and Technology Management provides solutions to management problems arising during engineering applications and technology utilization. In this pursuit, the integration of engineering and management systems is aimed. In order to achieve this purpose, engineers and other technical staff must receive education in management related topics in addition to their education in engineering and technical subjects.
As manufacturing development and service industries fostered, education in Engineering and Technology Management has exhibited tremendous growth in mid twentieth century. The first educational program was initiated in U.S.A. and later spread to other countries in the world.
Engineering and Technology Management Summit (ETMS) was established in 2017,by a group of scholars, teaching and researching in this area, from the Istanbul Technical University Management Engineering Department and the Bahçeşehir University Industrial and Management Engineering Departments, under the leadership of Prof. Dr. Sıtkı Gözlü, a retired professor of Engineering and Technology Management from Istanbul Technical University.
ETMS aims to gather academicians, professionals, and students to share ideas and practices. In the meetings, different opinions and ideas are discussed to find solutions for industrial and academic development.
The first ETMS meeting was organized in 2018 and the second in 2019. Because of the COVID-19 pandemic, no meeting took place in 2020. It could be accomplished on-line in 2021. The fourth meeting took place in 2022 and the fifth 2023 as hybrid organizations. All of the first five meetings were hosted and organized jointly by Istanbul Technical and Bahçeşehir Universities. The 2021 and 2022 ETMS meetings were sponsored by American Society for Engineering Management. Also, the 2022 ETMS meeting was sponsored by Poznan University of Technology.
The first five meetings were co-chaired by Prof. Dr. Ferhan Çebi from Istanbul Technical University and Prof. Dr. Tunç Bozbura from Bahçeşehir University. The contributions and support of the following scholars for the organization of ETMS meetings will always be remembered gratefully:

Local and international speakers are invited to the ETMS meetings and discussion panels are organized. Scientific papers in Turkish and English were presented, discussed, and published in digital proceedings. Selected papers are later published in various local and international journals. In 2022, a book of selected papers was published in digital form by Nobel Yayıncılık. The selected papers of 2023 will be published by Springer Verlag.
In 2024, the ETMS meeting will be hosted by Başkent University in Ankara and chaired by Prof. Dr. Hakkı Okan Yeloğlu. The aim is to organize the ETMS meetings in the future by other universities in Türkiye.
